The candidates should have passed 10+2 stage examination or its equivalent in any academic stream with English as compulsory subject. Candidates can also apply provisionally, subject to the condition that they should produce the proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission. All provisional admissions will stand cancelled if the proof of having passed the qualifying examination 10+2 or its equivalent is not submitted by the due date of joining the Institute.

English is the medium of instruction for the BHM programme at the Institute. Candidates who are weak in English but are otherwise meritorious and eligible for admission make up the deficiency on their own.

Admission to the BHM course shall be provisional. Admission will be made final after confirmation of eligibility by the Bangalore University.

Eligibility for admission to BHM Course

General:

  1. The Candidates should be a citizen of India.
  2. The applicant should be the child of an army person, either serving in the regular army or retired from the regular army with pensionery benefits and war widows who are in receipt of liberalized pension. The necessary certificate from Army HQ, AG’s Branch/OC Unit/concerned Records office for serving personnel and DSS & A Board for regular army pensioner should be attached.
  3. In clarification of the above, regarding children of medical officers, serving/ex-serviceman pensioners seconded to IAF/NAVY, only children of those medical officers who have put in 10 years of service in the Army and members of AOBF will be considered eligible.
  4. (i) Children of APS personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per the clarification given in the Govt of India, Min. of Def. letter No.9 ( 5/2)82/D (Res) dated 19 July 1989.
    (ii) Children of only those APS personnel who are on deputation and have put in atleast 10 years of service in the Army.
    (iii) Children of APS personnel who are directly recruited into APS and as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from the corps after completing their minimum pensionable service.
  5. Children of TA personnel who have completed 10 years embodied service vide Army HQ letter No B/45803/AWES/ CW-4(a)3 dated 17 Feb 97.
  6. Children of local MNS officers who have served for minimum 10 years as regular MNS officers or are in receipt of pension as regular officer.
  7. Children of Army personnel retired from regular Army with pensionery benefits and have joined in ASSAM Rifles, BSF, TA, NCC, and DSC.
  8. Adopted Children of Army personnel, atleast five years prior to seeking admission.
  9. Children of widow of Army personnel, who are born as a result of the second marriage with Army personnel are eligible.
  10. Step Children of Army personnel would be eligible, provided they were born out of a wedlock where at least one parent belonged to the Army.
  11. Children of ex-serviceman including SS officers who have taken retirement after ten years of completed service.

(b) Distinguished Service in War/Conflict/Hostilities

(d) War Widows 5%

Age

The candidate should not be more than 22 years of age as on 01 July of the year of admission, except war widows who are in receipt of liberalised pension. The date of birth recorded in the matriculation or equivalent examination certificate will be considered authentic.

Physical Fitness

The candidates should have good general health with satisfactory limits for chest expansion and contraction, normal vision and hearing. In case of defective vision, it must be corrected to 6/9 in both eyes or 6/6 in the better eye. Defective hearing should also be corrected. There should be no abnormality in heart and lungs and no history of mental disease or epileptic fits. The candidates must get themselves examined by the nearest military hospital/registered medical practitioner and attach certificate of physical fitness along with the application form.
